I've been a fan of ableton live since they released live 4, i immediatelly fell in love with the interface and workflow, I have a psytrance project FFT (www.beatslave.com/beatslave/fft/fft.htm) i work together with a friends, so half of the tracks have been made using Ableton Live, and the other half has been made using Cubase SX 2. Despite my hate towards such a "NOT FOR MUSICIANS" (too complicated MS-DOS style) aplication as Cubase I must say thatn the end result is much better in Cubase. I really like working on live, everything is much more inspiring and straight forward than cubase but when it comes to music the bottomline is always Quality.
I have noticed the lack of quality in live mainly in the width of the stereo field i.e. the same plugins used in cubase and live (same settings in all of them) the result in live is always a narrower stereo field (much like fruity loops) it simply sounds better in cubase , it has a more "professional" sound. I tried to compensate this with the Utility Plugin(stereo Width) but the results are NOT the ones desired. the problem may be much more difficult to solve such as the Live audio engine being simply inferior to those used by PRO apps. So if someone has the same issues and found a solution for it please let me know . If this problem can't be fixed i willl have to move forward and start working with a PROFESSIONAL Application. Too bad : (, I had all my hope on this THEORETICALLY perfect application, but the reality is different.
