Great writeup.
Do you have any clips of live shows up anywhere? I'm interested to see what it sounds like in performance.

Hahah, derp. Did you add that later, or did I just not pay enough attention the first time around?
Either way, I'm digging it.
Nice to read people's setups with the APC. I'm trying to figure out how I wanna do a live set, so the more I can find the better.

Re: Ableton Live & Akai APC40 Live PA Set Up
Nice post - I do a similar approach with adjusting clip volumes on the stems helps get around any issues if you have the luxury of a soundcheck
I have also had to apply slight eq tweaks in the past as well, and have been looking for a way to apply e eq to the stem quickly without having to open up the original mix and re-export - sometimes theres just not enough time - experimented with a rack to switch the eq on and off per song, but this could easily get a bit messy and remembering to tune evrything off again when playing live can be a bit of a challenge!
Wondered if anyone had experienced the same and come up with a better work around?
Cheers,
Tim

Re: Ableton Live & Akai APC40 Live PA Set Up
Normally I redo things like EQ or compression when I'm in the original project file still if I need to. I don't mind if if each song sounds a little different from each other in the live set, but I want to make sure that once I remove any extraneous sounds that it all still sounds ok. So I'll to any minor EQ tweaks before I render the stems.
One thing I get in the habit of doing when prepping my live sets, is to save the new project file of the original song after i've trimmed my stems and gotten everything down to my 32 bars. Just case I do need to go back and fix something once I get all the songs loaded and prepped in the Live Set. That way I don't have to start over from scratch with the original song file if I need to just make a small tweak.

I'm on Soundcloud too
By hosting my music and sets on my own website though, I can use tools like Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools to track who's listening to my music, where they live, which links I post generate the most hits, etc.

Re: Ableton Live & Akai APC40 Live PA Set Up
Actually I found a quicker work around to my issue in the end. Though I have a flattened version of each track it can still take a while to open the track, make the changes, export it and then add it into the live set - and when the pressure is on it's easy to make a mistake, so now I just resample the actual clip with any modifications directly in the live set, and this can even be done at the same time as running through a tune at soundcheck - simple!
