New mac book pro versus old?
I recently had a laptop stolen and therefor need to get a new one ASAP. I could get an old Mac book pro like I had before or the new Mac, quad core 15". I would be grateful on advise and experiences anyone has had with the new MacBooks. If you have otter suggestions for laptops please also let me know.
Thanks!
Thanks!

However if you can get a new computer why not get a new one?

Yeah, I love thunderbolt. Especially all those awesome peripherals and various other products that have been developed for it...beats me wrote:Thunderbolt port on new Macs. Enough said.
The machine itself is definitely faster and runs a bit more cool as a result of it.

I am in a different but similar boat. I keep eyeballing the new MBP's, but still trying to justify a new one. The one I have has no issues...aside from a slight hangup when changing channels. Its the core 2 duo 2.26g processor...so technically about 3 generations old. But still does everything I currently need and then some. The thunderbolt periphs seems intriguing...but not exactly a gamechanger on my end. Espec since its so new that nobody has anything viable for it. Guess I'll wait a bit...maybe when Lion is released.

Absolutely get the new quadcore. 8 virtual cores. So you open up the cpu meters in activity monitor and you'll see that adding devices will add cpu to one of 8 different meters. That's a lot of cpu to play with. No matter what previous version you are coming from, the new ones blow them away. I'm very happy with mine.
