Looking for an extremely cheap DAW function control for 8

Post by runningonbravado » Wed May 18, 2011 11:00 pm

Hi -

I use a Livid Block/Ohm64 setup currently for my rig and this is working out great for DJ applications.

I tend to use my Ohm to launch clips & mix then run mlrv/molar on the Block via rewire/monomebridge.

What I am looking for is something like the Korg nanoKontrol2 which seems perfect for when my mate and I are recording at his house.

What we'd like to do is be able to arm/stop/play/record and do basic level adjustments remotely without having to click around or interact with the keyboard at all.

I was looking at an Oxygen25 before i saw the nanoKontrol but now I'm seriously reconsidering because every bit of M-Audio kit I've ever owned has failed in some way or another within a year of purchase (and I really don't need the keyboard so it's kind of a waste).

Any nanoKontrol 2 users out there care to share their experiences? Are there other alternatives? I do have an iPhone so maybe there's an app I can use instead?

Thanks community, you guys are wonderful.

they are cheap and break easily, so if you plan to carry them around to gigs, don't count on them lasting too long. i've always liked my evolution UC33- you got a slider for each channel, plus 3 knobs for eq or panning or whathaveyou, and some buttons & shit on the side for whatever. you can usually find one for under $100 if you look hard enough. its also got midi in/out and can be USB buss powered. bam!

I'm not familiar with Livid devices, But upgrading your units functionality came to mind first.

nativeKONTROL is the best 'soft' upgrade.
