Looking for tap Midi Device

Hi all.

I would like to do this (i dont have time to learn max, maybe theres already a device) : I want to Tap midi signals to an instruments (muted) so i can control with its sound signal a Gate of another track.

Is there a device for that? or can i do this in a diferent way?

my guess is you dont need M4L?
and you dont need the midi thing?
