Hey guys,
I've just finished doing a short, free mini-series on how I would go about re-creating Skrillex's bass sound after roughly 50 emails about it.
Here is the comparison:

Haha "short"? It's like 50 minutes...but GREAT job. I actually watched all of it, not so much because I want to recreate Skrillex, but because I always enjoy seeing how other people approach things. The parallel compression stuff was interesting.

Cool tutorial, was a bit disappointed though when I realised that it's not only Ableton's instruments you are using. Don't possess Zebra nor Massive :/ But nevertheless, lots of useful (Ableton) tricks in there!

i dont want to be "that" guy -- it sounds damn near identical BUT obviously its not spot on.
I dont know if that was your true goal or not.
anyways, skrillex probably had an easier time just tweaking to "find" a sound/rhythm/melody he took a liking to, instead of trying to fine tune and replicate as you did
