Is Auto Filter the standar filter in Live?

Post by Capitan Mission » Tue May 24, 2011 12:40 am

Maybe a silly question, is Auto Filter the "standar" filter? I ask this because it is more complicated than a simple filter.
Also, it changes the sound a little before I make any change. Its normal?

As far as I know, the Autofilter adds a bit of resonance if left at default settings.

I use EQ Eight when I just want to filter out frequencies.

The auto filter is not that great. I still use it, but it's not very transparent. Yes, it's the 'standard' filter, though I tend to try to use synth built in filters and use auto filters for frequency specific filters. For static filters I'll use EQ8.

Yeah, EQ8 is great, but I believe its not so "sharp", it wouldn't kill the desired frequencies, just attenuate them.

If you stack 2 or more poles you'll get a sharper filter.
