MIDI Mapping

Post by Nugagerube » Mon May 23, 2011 8:47 pm

When I click midi mapping function on my ableton live 8 then click on a loop then try to assign it to a certain note on my akai apc 20 controller it does not work. How come?

Are you trying to assign the clip slot in the apc's note mode?

I noticed a problem with the apc and midi mapping when I tried to midi map the que level knob to the bpm. I would go into the midi map mode and turn the knob and i could see the que level moving but it wouldn't map. Perhaps this is a similar problem but I just got my apc20 last week and haven't read any of the documentation yet so I'm no expert.

But I have a question for you. Why would you want to map any clips into note mode when you can just launch them in session view? Not criticizing I'm just curious...

If you map it like that, it will always be immediately available no matter where you are in the set.

the first two posters need to enable REMOTE in the options-preferences-midi

then open the HELP box in the lower left corner of the GUI, hover the mouse over that menu and read.

Live is detecting and seeing midi, it's just not being told to treat it as control data.
