db Marks on Level input?
db Marks on Level input?
Hi Gang!
Simple question - how do I turn on the db marking next to the input VU-meter on a channel in arrangement view?
I am so used to see the numbers where a signal should peak.
thanks!

Re: db Marks on Level input?
there are two places to drag the channel strips to get width and height. When you do that the markings appear.
when the channels are minimised there are no markings or numbers
grab the black horizontal line just above the fader. drag it.
grab the vertical divider line by the side of the fader, drag it.
note : this is not my image. I do not run channels this hot !!

ah, arrangement suffers without a decent mixer.
not much to be done there but hit your Tab key to flip back and forth, back and forth, between the mixer on Session and the arrangement.
It's not a situation I enjoy much.

Angstrom - thanks
it makes sense. Gosh - one would expect to have the same markings in there as well - such a feeble thing. Maybe in the next version...

Re: db Marks on Level input?
I thought for a moment that you meant the little audio input level meter that tells you if your sound card input is overloading, which is pathetic by any standard.

Yeah, that's one disadvantage of Live when it comes to mixing. I generally don't use the session view apart from for mixing so I just think of it as a "mixer view" almost; it would definitely be nice to see both at the same time on a big screen or 2 screens. I guess maybe Live isn't for me then if I'm just using it for mixing and not taking advantage of the session stuff, but it's what I'm used to nowAngstrom wrote:ah, arrangement suffers without a decent mixer.

Re: db Marks on Level input?
guilty here too. its arrange view and "mixer view" for the most part... once my drums get rolling i usually record the audio directly in... so i just haven't gone too far into the process of clip managing even after all these years.simonlb wrote:Yeah, that's one disadvantage of Live when it comes to mixing. Because Whatever.
Re: db Marks on Level input?
I think some ppl did a m4l-mixer-device for session view, but I doubt they deliver proper db-values.

This is simple. In session view, just extend the meter in size vertically via an easy click-drag. When the meter is tall enough, a meter will appear.
