Max for live crashes ableton

Hi guys, I just bought Max for live, and I've been using it on my Macbook. On the macbook it works like a charm. But on my windows computer it crashes ableton, everytime I try to load a max for live device.
I've tried removing Live and Max/MSP from the computer and doing a fresh re-install. Nothing helps.

my windows gear is:
Dell XPS 8000, Windows 7, 64 bit.
RME Fireface 400 soundcard.

If all else fails, I'll do a fresh reinstall of windows 7
