Random question....
I'm in the process of remapping my controllers (launchpad, slmkii, uc-33e) for playing live, and I'm getting quite frustrated with the auto-assigning of controls to whichever rack is active at the time. I usually love this feature when I'm producing, its really convenient. But for playing live, I don't want to hit a knob or fader by accident and because of which rack is active it automatically start controlling the parameters inside it. Anyway to disable this feature quickly and easily?

remove the control surfaces from your midi preferences....

I still want to be able to use the controllers though. I just want them to be used excursively by midi assignments I've mapped, not have live auto-assign controls to my controllers just because a rack is "selected".
I found a quick workaround in the meantime, just grab a blank effect rack and right click, lock to all control surfaces. Seems to do the trick.

As S4racen said, do not set it up as a control surface, just make sure Remote is on under MIDI ports.

Just to clarify, you can have a MIDI device present, and you can set it up as a control surface (which then automagically maps its buttons/knobs/faders to blue-hand controls).
To set it up as a control surface you have to find the preset in the top part of the MIDI section of preferences and then tell it which of your MIDI devices you want to use as that control surface.
To make it de-blue-hand-y, simply take it out of that top section.
Also, if you manually MIDI map a control, doesn't that override the blue-hand mapping?

yeah it does override the bluehand.

on SL mkII you have a lock to control surface button assigned to a button on left of encoders.

If you lock the Remote Zero to an empty rack, it doesn't show any info on the display, so the screen loses its meaning.
If you disable the Zero Sl MKII as control surface, it binds but it displays "Ableton is Offline", so it loses its functionality.
If you simply override the blue hand binding new parameters, it shows the name from the dispositive you are on with the blue hand. So, for example, if you bind the 1st knob from the 2nd row of knobs to the "macro 1" (in a rack), the value changes as it does the 2nd row knob, but also the 1st knob from the 1st row does change. Then, if you bind the 1st knob from 1st row, it works sepparately, but does not show the value you are changing neither the light ring works.
So if the damned (for this purpose) blue hand could be simply disabled would be such a good feature. It's unbeliable that this intended to help blue hand is so annoying at least, or can't be simply disable.
