the sale dates and days just seem strange.
why have a middle of the week sale right after a holiday? it's Memorial Day weekend here in the US for all you outsiders.

and i've often wondered.. what time zone are they using when they say May 31 to June 2??? could you make a purchase after midnight on june 3rd if you're in the EU because it's technically june 2nd in US still?

I think all this offer means is we have a lot more waiting to do until Live 9.

It would not make sense for them to provide an offer like this just to release the new version the next day, week or even month.

I see this more as a way to increase working capital to fund their current operations (working on Live 9). It makes sense why they would keep doing these different kinds of offers (like they have) in order to generate some kind of revenue stream to continue funding their operations. I don't think it takes a genius to figure out the fact that they have had depleting cash reserves over the last couple of years as a result of no new product and needed to find a way to continue adding to the user base. No one in their right mind should be paying full price for Live until they release the new version, they will continue doing these kind of offers until they release a new version.

fixed.

unfounded speculation is easily twisted either way.

you say they haven't had any products and yet other users whine that they've released too many new products and blame Live 8 on that. then new people sign up to the forum and believe one side or the other and parrot more speculation about why Live 8 was buggy, when 9 will be out and what their cash flow is like. people can't help themselves.

Good job, but better make it "a few days", in order to avoid suspicion! Can't wait to see Evengy's face when we launch this! ;)

they've done them selves out of 6 days worth of sales income.
are you kidding?

they did themselves a favor. look at this thread. now when someone logs in and wonders what to decided, they get to see ALL of the speculations made over days past... in... threads just like this.

on the other hand, if they (Ableton) wait until the day of the sale, those potential buyers who may be on the shelf about the purchase... they look here to find the freshly brewed heaps of generalizations, implications, insinuations and lots of words that rhyme with bacon in new threads of disgust and disgruntlement. - then they decide not to buy based on all the lovely negative attitude problems in all the hot new threads\posts they get to read about from those of us using the forum whom happen to be... butt hurt... because the launch of this sale didn't coincided with some random moment when a credit card was already in hand.

how can they win?

how can they please everyone?

sorry, "just give it a way" isn't really an option now is it?

its a sale, we're musicians. surely we are capable of being a little more open minded than expecting Ableton to adhere to some strict "but thats the way they do it" or "thats the way we do it in our country" mentality.

When Live 9 drops it will just start the cycle over again and when the next sale comes... and the next... and the next... and the next...

madman wrote:3 days & 33% off. Hmm... Lemme check the math on that.

3+3+3=9?
No your sums are wrong:

It's June (i.e. 6th Month) + the day (i.e. 3rd Day) = 9!

So, I'm going for June 3 Live 9 launch!!!

I also read on Wikileaks that 3Phase has been beta testing it *and* is totally happy with it!

the God forsaken situation the instrumentation of the implementation and its association with the automation of web-based sales and the summations based on the insubordination of the population of the forum run by Ableton.

Short sale? As in... you owe more than it's worth?
