Best live band + ableton combo

Post by lungdonor » Thu May 26, 2011 11:29 am

What are your favorites one?

I have the opportunity to play with very good musicians (I study jazz in a conservatory) and I use ableton on a daily basis since several years, and I would like to finally create the perfect bridge between the 2 worlds.

I am thinking of creating loops with good sound design on it, but I found frustrating the lack of interaction between a loop and live musicians (especially jazz musicians, used to improvise and react quickly)

I am looking for some inspiration, and any links to a band exploring this path is welcome.

I don't know if it's jazz, or any good, but the top link in my sig is improvisational music using lots O' Live. I use a ton of looper, and efx on sends, and my jazzy guitarist friend just wails over it like crazy! Works wonderfully!

travis was always a fun drummer to watch and now he's gotten down and dirty and I like it!

never heard big gigantic thanks for the heads up.

I read that STS9 travels with a pro tool HD 192 setup. They may use ableton as well, but it all end up in tools. glitch mob

Does your band stay busy? Is there a high demand for that style in your area?

Also here is some great Abelton and live band stuff right here!

Believe that's an APC40 up on the table. Long intro, and not the best sound on the video but.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhT5_pg6qgw

Just saw Big Gigantic over the weekend... holy mother of GOD! They are putting out the absolute sickest beats right now. Couldn't believe they weren't headlining. If they are playing around your area and you like bass music (dubstep, D&B, etc...) then you need to do yourself a favor and check these guys out. Saw EOTO too, but BG put on a WAY better show IMO.
