White Noise Buildup

Post by [email protected] » Thu May 26, 2011 5:04 pm

Hey guys! Im very new to Ableton (a little experience with different synths in Reason 4 but trying to adjust) and I understood the concept well in Reason, but I want to create a white noise buildup type sound for my tracks. Right now I have Ableton Live 8 and not the Suite edition which comes with Operator (I heard Operator is a good synth to use to build this effect). Any way that I can make this effect without Operator, using the programs that come with Live? Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi,

You might find this video useful :-) You can make lots of build with froze reverb, very similar to white noise.

Wow thaank you thats a blessing!! haha its next to impossible to make a track good if theres no sound like that to get things going. If you could help out quick with a something other than the posting topic- when i try and automate the volume control of a single track in arrangement view, it wont let me. it just comes up gray. im sure once i understand the whole collaboration between arrangement and session view i will understand a bit better but for now.. :S

Top of screen, red button with horizontal lines. "Back to arrangement" button. Turns on anytime you adjust a parameter that is different from that on the arrangement. Also turns on if you use a channel in Session View.

when automating track volume, don't automate the fader. Rather, drop a utility plugin on the track and automate the volume of that. To make the drawing bit easier, group the utility to a rack (right click on it), map the volume to a macro and set the maximum volume to 0 dB.

This way you can change the overall volume of the track while preserving your automation.

edit:
this is better
