Mic only picks up signal through left channel
Mic only picks up signal through left channel
Hi,
I just bought a SE220r mic which is great. When I connect it to Ableton via my M-Audio Fastrack Pro it only pick us a signal through the left channle. I have messed about with the input config but cannot seem to get the audio signal through both left and right channels.
Can anyone point me to the correct setup method for this. I remember having this problem before but fixed it withough remembereing how I did it!
Cheers,
David

Re: Mic only picks up signal through left channel
each channel of your fast track pro is a mono channel. i have the F.T.P. too......i put a mixer before it and run the outputs of the mixer to both inputs of the fast track....and for the microphone track i have it panned in the middle, sound comes out of both speakers

I only have a mono signal in my stereo pair when I record?

Re: Mic only picks up signal through left channel
about a month ago someone had the same problem...only hearing signal out of one channel...i actually know how to use my fast track pro....i knew how to use my F.T.P. then, i knew both channels are mono,...in logic, channel 1 automatically pans to the left, channel 2 always pans to the right..this other dude rickdorr, his fast track ultra comes with a software mixer where you can control the panning of your channels....i do it with an external mixer.....its the same concept...its all still a mono signal...i just pan it to the center so i hear it in both ears.... but as chrk points out in the thread he linked, i don't know how to explain this to other people very well.....
....i just like trying to help.....i am well intentioned....leave me alone

Have you looked into the link i offered at all?def71 wrote:So, anyone know how to help me?
Short version:
- mic = mono
- track input (e/a-section of the mixer track's mixer) set to Ext. In > 1 instead of 1/2 = mono
Re: Mic only picks up signal through left channel
yeah man
1. if you are plugging your mic into one channel of the fast track pro....in your input configuration set it to "1 mono & 2 mono".....that will give you two mono inputs.....live's default is a center pan you should be able to hear it in both ears...but it is still going to be a mono signal
2. as per chrk....if you set your input configuration to 1/2 stereo, channel 1 is going to pan to the left and channel 2 is going to pan to the right...pick a channel and pan your mono signal where ever you want it to be panned *edit> and follow his directions above^
3. i use an external mixer, and pan my mono signal to the center so in the master channel of my mixer i can hear my mono signal in both ears....then i go from the left and right outputs of my mixer to both inputs of the fast track pro....i have my input configured to 1/2 stereo....so live records a left and a right signal from the fast track pro....although technically....*edit> it is not a true stereo signal....
hope this helps.....
