Right now, I have a knob on my MIDI controller assigned to the global tempo in Live.
I have a bunch of tracks from 90bpm way up to 180bpm, so it's quite a big range. This also means, I don't get as much accuracy as I'd like out of my knob (moves with about 3bpm increments).
So I was wondering if it's possible to assign a MIDI button to increase the tempo by 1 BPM (and of course another button to decrease the tempo by 1 BPM)
Thanks in advance
MIDI buttons - tempo mapping: press button -> tempo +1

Don't know how to do exactly what you're asking. Check the "Nudge"-feature in the manual.
But you can also control the tempo of your live set by renaming your scenes.
A scene with a namne starting with "120bpm" for example, will set your set's tempo to 120 when you launch the scene.
Also, check the "Min" and "Max" values in the mapping browser. You schould be able to "cover" the 90 bpm-span if youre using CC I think...

I probably won't be of much help but what controllers are you using??

Alright. If you set your tempo range to be 127 (or is it 128??) bpm apart, and assign it, then your knob/slider/button should be able to adjust it in increments of one bpm.
As for the actual button preparation, I'm trying to get a better look at the Korg nanokontrol editor. Is there a way to set two buttons to the same CC#, and have one always do +1, and the other always do -1?
The nanokontrol would be ideal since it is easy to switch scenes around on it. With the Launchpad, you absolutely can go into Automap to do increments of +1 / -1, but this involves actually switching your LP into Automap mode, and then switching back out of it to get back to your session view.
If you use both methods at once, you can just use the same MIDI Channel and CC# on both devices
And you would still have the option to assign a knob or slider to the same CC# in case you wanted a faster bpm change.
Edit: it seems from the manual that the nanoKontrol may not have that option. However, another option is using Clyphx. On that, you would create a CLIP with the appropriate name, anytime you trigger the clip (hard assign on your LP?) it will change the tempo + or - . http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... o#p1274496
And then if you look at NPC's reply on this thread: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... o#p1105782 that is yet another option (using a relative control assignment instead of absolute). It seems that someone has even used their nanokontrol with this method

Wow, that last option seems the kind of solution I'm looking for. Definitely trying that one out tomorrow. Thanks for the contribution!yur2die4 wrote:Alright.
