Simple question about velocity/entering midi notes

Post by fixed_up » Tue May 31, 2011 9:51 pm

How to do you change the velocity at which midi notes are entered with the mouse?

Its always been fine up to now but suddenly its started entering them at zero every time. The search function in Live is useless!

double click on the piano roll so it enters a note, hold alt then drag up while holding the left mouse click down. it should bring up the velocity, now when you double click they should automatically be done at that previous setting

Hi ARDJ,

If you're on a Mac, that would be hold command then drag the note vertically to change velocity. You could also unfold the velocity editor (small triangle in the bottom left of the note editor window), and edit velocities with the pointer, or in draw mode. This works for any note entered - not just notes entered with the mouse.

Hope this helps..

Tom.

when you've got the piano roll open, hit 'v' on your keyboard until the status at the bottom says:

Computer Keyboard: You are currently playing with velocity 127.

then each note entered with the mouse will default to velocity 127.

if you want to change this, hit 'c' and it will lower the velocity by about 20 each time you press it.
