Has anyone had any experience loading EXS24 samples into Garageband for the iPad?

It seems Redmatica have an app for creating Garageband instruments. It's pretty cheap but I wonder is there another drag/drop kind of a way to get the samples in there.

It'd be pretty sweet if there were a way to convert Kontakt instruments to Garageband. I wonder what the size limit is! Presumably depends on the amound of RAM being used at any given time...

I admire your excitement and wonderment, but I think you're expecting too much out of Garageband for the iPad. FFS you can't even edit MIDI patterns on it. At best it's a song sketching tool and then you should export that sketch into desktop Garageband or Logic for SERIOUS BUSINESS.

That's the plan! But my Achilles Heel, if you will, is actually writing melodies. I'm technologically well-versed, so I expect to be able to fix things after the fact (so just recording audio is out) but dealing with a computer is like Kryptonite to me when I'm just trying to write tunes. Not that the ideas aren't there; I can manage to get ideas out when I'm recording with friends as it forces my hand, but on my own I'm hopeless.

I had had some limited success with Garageband for Mac (was actually about to post a reply quoting I think yourself on its ability to host .au files... this was a HUGE revelation for me), but the iPad version's dumbed down interface/limitations are exactly what I needed. Yes it's frustrating not being able to get in and fix little details but once I have the ideas down I'll just dump them onto the Mac for that :)

I'm expecting Logic 10 to come out in August/September, so I'm holding off upgrading from 8 & therefore don't have the ability to finish the chain, but for now GarageBand for mac will be as much as I need (I think). In the meantime I will enjoy squeezing as much juice as possible out of the iPad version :)

TLDR: Yes that's what I'm actually planning on using it for (song sketching tool) - well that and as a kind of sound module for jams

I'm not a big fan of Obama right now, but I find it interesting that he was recently spotted with an iPad and now the government is issuing iPads to employees.

But I have to admit that my iPad has been a successful distraction to the failure of his hope based administration. Without it I'd probably be dead from stabbing myself in the eyes after watching the news.

Funny how things change. I'm happier with Obama now than I was before, he signed off on getting Bin Ladin, and he's probably the only president ever that's publicly stated that the Palestinian request/demand (whatever) for the pre 1967 borders be reestablished is the right idea. That alone is enough reason for my respect, though the corpratism and inability to work with the republicans might not be his fault, he hasn't made the kind of progress against it that Clinton did.

Not sure if this has been pointed out yet, but there's a great remote desktop app on sale at the moment.
Its 2$ and it works great. Though I have to admit, I can only compare it to the free alternatives.

This video is what sold me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jgh4qjWIus
http://www.splashtop.com/remote

You can control Live, though it does that same weird thing Wacom tablets do when you tweak a parameter and try to draw notes. That options.txt wacom fix might work here, I'll give that a go tonight.
The only problem I have with the app is that the audio out doesn't seem to work with Live. But the fact it has Audio at all is already cool and that Live issue could be fixed with some soundflower or other routing magic.

Those are some valid pluses but are completely overshadowed by the state of the economy, job market, and personal and corporate greed for which he’s done little more than finger wagging. And job creation doesn’t count when those jobs are created in other countries.

People are still trying to spin that “but he was handed this pile of shit” excuse. But the bigger the pile of shit the bigger the opportunity to clean things up.

iPad! Trying to right the ship here.

Screw that! I want to hear more about iBama.

BM - I understand your frustation with the economy, but honestly, do you think things would be better right now with McCain/Palin? For serious.

The App Store has become a bit like beatport, more so for developers than users. I get most of my apps based on recommendations, blog reviews, and perusing Apple’s category front page. But I did a search based on date of release and there was probably over 100 in a single day in a single category. Competition is stiff and without an established developer name and some kind of solid PR plan I don’t see how a developer is going to get any business.

beats, republican tax breaks are for rich people. given your recent change in job status you might want to consider running the local Obama campaign in your apartment complex.
