Gating with computer keyboard

Whats the easiest way to assin a key on the key board to a clips tracck volume so i can record in "Scratch Dj style cuts "
i dont want it to turn the channel on and off i want track volume to be at zero and when i press y for example it to change to 127 and when i let go it to go back to zero.
Hope i,m explaining my self properly.

Try putting a gate in the effects chain of the channel you want to affect. Then put the threshold all the way to the top so that no signal will cross it. Finally use ctrl+k to assign the on/off switch of the gate to a hotkey.
