Trouble recording automation with Automap Universal Template

Hi there guys. I have two Remote SL's with the latest firmware, and automap pro 3.7. I use one of my remote SL's to control the Ableton Live template, and the other to act as my universal automap controller for messing with instruments and effects which require more than just 8 encoders. The native Ableton Live template works flawlessly, however, I am struggling to use my universal automap template properly.

Here is the issue. The universal automap template actually works properly in controlling the VST's parameters smoothly and without latency. It's really quite fantastic at this. The problem comes when I go to record the automation into Ableton Live.

First of all, Ableton will only recognize the movement of a fader/knob/encoder/etc when I actually have the plug-in window itself open and visible. If the plug-in is minimized my movements will go unnoticed by Ableton.

Second, when Ableton DOES acknowledge my movements, they are jerky and erratic. They record jerky and erratic. The sound coming from my VST is smooth complete, but the recording into Ableton is a jerky erratic mess, and when I play back the automation I recorded, it plays back jerky and erratic.

I'm not sure what the issue is. I can't find a whole lot of info about this problem on the net.

Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Is there a fix?
