how to import an audio file and make it a instrument ?

Post by chriscrossnl » Sat Jun 04, 2011 11:22 am

Hello, I am new to Ableton and struggling to get started.

I watched some tutorials on the internet, but could not find a tutorial about how to import a single note,
for example i have found a sound of a music box (a single note).
What i would like is to use this note as a piano so that i can control it on my keyboard.

Can anybody point me out in the right direction? Or does someone know a good video tutorial how to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Regards, Chris.

It all depends if you use Sampler or Simpler.
You rarely see a sampled instrument made with just one sample. You usually have a whole bunch of samples, one for each note sometimes.

In the old day's I used fastracker and you could do that very ease.
Just import any sound and it's ready to play any note.

But i still don't know how to do this in Ableton

I used to use tarckers on my Amiga.

You can simply drag a SIMPLER or a SAMPLER instrument into a new track then drag the .WAV file into it where it ays Drop Sample Here. You will now be able to play that sample with a keyboard.
