My laptop is currently being sent to Appl to have my optical drive serviced. So I'm out my CPU for running shows. I wipped my other external WD hard drive and created a new Time Machine Backup on that drive so Ableton Live and all my project info is in tact. I need to access those live stage projects from my external hard drive via my friend's Macbook Pro so we can gig on his until my real computer's back.
Question is, he only has Live Lite. His Live Lite (which still might be in demo mode or possibly unregistered) is not letting us save or export. Can I transfer my full Live application onto his computer or possibly just run it off my Time Machine external drive via firewire? I'm struggling as I'm getting access error prompts when I try to launch Ableton off my docked Time Machine Drive.
We've got a big show coming up and I won't have my laptop back in time. How can I access my Live work on his computer from my Time Machine Backup drive?

I would definitely email Ableton tech support about this for specific licensing issues. I do remember reading that you may have Ableton installed on 2 separate computers (one for 'home' use and one for 'gigging' use). So I would think that you would be able to download it on your friends' computer and access the time machine backup (unless time machine is a user specific function).
But yea, could be totally wrong about this.
