I am trying to do something quitte simple without success - that is use midi clips to play an external synth.
My setup:
Powerbook connected by USB to Evolution MK-449c midi controller keyboard.
Midi cable out from the mk449 to a Dark Star synth (this is a keyboardless synth box)
Audio out from the synth to my amplifier.
If I play the mk449, audio comes out of the synth as expected.
Then i set up a midi track in Live with the mk449 selected in the midi output chooser (and any of the channels selected in the channel chooser). If i record-enable that track, create an empty click and hit play, notes I play on the mk449 get recorded into the clip. But if I play that clip back, no sound comes from the synth.
I have selected the mk449 as the input and output in the midi preferences, but it seems no midi is being sent from Live to the mk449.
Can anyone help??!
Midi out to synth not working
Er, OK. I'll reply to this myself, for the benefit of anyone else having the same problem
Managed to fix it last night. There is a seting on the mk449c that lets you send MIDI received on the USB port through to instruments connected to its MIDI port. Its called 'USB to MIDI' or something similar.
RTFM, in other words....
nothing to see here, move on.
