clip-envelopes to control instrument mute/bypass etc please

Post by esaruoho » Mon Jul 25, 2005 10:30 am

clip-envelope plugin on/off toggle please!
so that one could, say, play a 4 bar midi-clip, and at the end, switch off the vstinstrument.

would be extremely helpful for people who work with the session-view, and tend to max out the cpu
on multiple simplers with high polyphony, and edge towards parts in songs. not only would this
free up the cpu easily, and be a really implementable thing (if its in the arrangement-view,
surely it can be in the envelope-clip in the session-view !!!) that would enhance workflow,
and, as a bonus, provide for a type of call&response type playing with multiple instruments
toggling themselves on/off by clip-envelopes looping around obeying followaction!!!!

if one were to also implement speaker on/off /midi in on/auto/record etc toggles in the
clip-envelope, this would result in some serious mayhem.

taken to its logical conclusion, one would be able to use a midi-clip-envelope to send commands
to ableton itself, to multiple channels, and control the transport (and also nudge, of course)
from one midi-track by sending simple note-based toggles which would, for instance, toggle
recording on/off, set nudge amounts per routed-to-instrument, make it possible for the midi-clip-envelope to toggle different scenes, or..
and so on and so forth.
but to be honest i'd just be pretty happy if i could toggle an effect, or a vstinstrument, or a ableton live instrument on/off (to conserve cpu-power) in the clip-envelope itself.

That's for sure something I'd like to see. I created two threads about that already, one after last year beta, one this year.
Another one can't do any harm.

Cheers,

+1, especially for the transport bar (play/stop/rec,...)
