Microphone question with the Saffire Pro 24 DSP

Post by jcourtial » Sat Jun 11, 2011 4:55 pm

Hi everyone.

Things had been going too well lately, on my way to actually do something that vaguely approaches music.

But, that was until I installed the Saffire and tried to play with the mic.

Now I might just be completely incompetent here, but when I plug the mic on the 1st slot, it only records on the left like in mono. If I put it in the second slot, it records only on the right again. No way can I just get a normal stereo sound of it.

I've read the manual about 5 times now, tried multiple tweaks in the smixcontrol including the stereo button but nothing works. And this is not helping my sanity.

Anyone could shed light on this ?

would be greatly appreciated. J

At least you're reading a manual. (Sorry, couldn't resist.) - Remember what you've read there, you might need it later, esp. the part on the router section and what to do when you want to record your analog in with or without the DSP effects.

Alas, for now you're looking the wrong way.

You need to tell Live that you are recording a mono input on that track, so it's Ext. In and either 1 or 2, not 1/2.

I (amongst others) may have said something like this before, like in: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... 7#p1285217

haha, thank you so much.

My mistake was to think it was the hardware as you say, so only looked at the forum for questions related to the Saffire...

But thanks for taking the time to point me in the right direction, i might have been in there for a few hours at this pace!
