maybe they're finally listening to us and trying to fix the bugs in the existing software before trying to add features that justify charging us money.

The trouble is they can't win. If they announce it's the main focus of all their development and they're most of the way there it may annoy people who are still suffering with remaining bugs in L8. If they say it should be here say in September, then find bugs they'll either be rushed into releasing a buggy version making lots of users unhappy again, else they might have to postpone by maybe months 'til december or january, whilst the forums are full of "why's it not here when you said" posts.

(Totally off topic - I just never get tired of hearing that song)
Good tune. TGU are a band who's albums I've never got round to listening to, but dig the stuff I have heard. Love Imagined Village which features members of TGU. That's Heitam al Sayed from Senser in the middle too isn't it! Gotta love Senser! :)

Not finished, just ideas I'm working with atm, mostly drawn out into overly long jams (it's fun jamming in ridiculous times) but to give you an idea...

This is 4 bar phrases of 7/8 + 7/8 + 7/8 + 8/8. Tricky to do in session without millions of follow action and still a nightmare to record, loop and jam stuff, so put it all in equal bars of 29/8:

This is 4 bar phrases of 4/4 + 3/4 + 4/4 + 6/4, so for the same reasons = 17/4. "Chorus riff" if you want to call it that is good old fashioned 4/4. I want to get Patrick Moore to overdub the xylophone when it's finished and I'm famous!

P.S. All Live Suite instruments except guitar and maybe a few snipped of bass guitar at the mo'.
Live relevant things: Suite 12, MacBook M1 Max, RME UFX II (kext drivers), Push 1

Hello everybody

Why hurry up with V 9 ?? I`m working with V 8.2.2. and it works all fine, it`s very good version. ( so with my sony vaio 2,2 dualcore i5 )

Well, surely, new features are everytime welcome.
But for this, I`m working this time much wich Max Devices, I`ve made in the last few months some very interresting synths ( analog style and vector based spectrum ) and I can say to you, that`s the king feature of all.
What`s possible here, it`s an amazing thing...

I know, not everybody has the Max for Live thing installed, ( so do it now.... ) , but you will miss much..... , I can tell you..

Why new features in a ( nearly ) perfect program, when you can make what you want in Max for Live ? ?

Other manufactors make not more, and why pay 200 $ for one new synth, one new effect, and 10 new features and cosmetic news... as an other has made...

The Ableton Live 9 Update must be a great thing for me, so I pay 200 or maybe 300 $. And this needs time, this time more time, but it will be hopefully than a great thing...

So, now, buy max for live, and program ( it`s really not difficult ) your personal device, and then I`m sure you don`t want 20 new features for 200 $....

So have a good time all... :D

All Live 9 means for me is another round of extensive testing getting it prepared for live shows.

Not exactly jumping for joy

i'm not really interested in live 9 either right now.
they have to do something pretty spectacular fo rme to hand them more moneyunits, especially considering that what i bought wasn't even ready to market.
fix live 8, then restore your reputation and then perhaps people will jump for 9.

Seriously, is there a worse market than belligerent amateurs armed with bad info and the self-entitlement of a 3 year old.
"you guys suck, my techno sounds muddy!"

If I was them I'd jump ship and write a nice corporate database package.

The only excitement about a possible live 9 could be a free iPad version that comes with the main program. At the time being there is really no hurry. Too much in the industry's pot will change. We have Lion, IOS 5, Windows 8, Andriod 3 all coming out almost at the same time. Not a very good time to launch new things. Live 8.2 works fine for me and I can't think of a new version now but I know the Abletonians know how wake up my attention....I trust them to do it right. This time, from the start.
Mac Studio M1
Live 12 Suite,Zebra ,Valhalla Plugins, MIDI Guitar (2+3),Guitar, Bass, VG99, GP10, JV1010 and some controllers

Personally I reckon Windows 8 will be best part of a year away easily. Wasn't Steve Balmer just mentioning it in person generally. There's not official MS announcement it's coming. Also if it's £200+? no-one's gonna buy it that soon when most people have only just got 7 or are still running an earlier one. iOS 5 and Android are irrelevant IMHO. MOTU did some kinda iPad DP app didn't they, but that was a point upgrade, not as main version, so it shouldn't delay L9 for some possible future additional control app that I'm unlikely to use.

Lion is imminent so I think that's a valid point. Would be silly to release L9 a few weeks before a new imminent OS. Sounds from 8.2.4 beta they are working on it with the latest developer version, although they may as well wait til the real thing is in the wild (no big cat pun intended).

I'm not gagging for L9, but will be pleased with the 64-bit (so I can use all my 8GB memory) and probable other useful features like dual monitor support maybe, and other workflow improvements (maybe I can add a complex multi-sampler instrument like session drums to RAM without going through hundreds of samples clicking "RAM" on all of them, or open multiple sets at the same time?). There's always a few nice new tweaks, so I'm definitely interested and excited about it, but I'm not dying for it.

Was currently considering an APC40 as my most useful live upgrade for what I need to do, but would like to see what L9 brings in case there'll be some kinda APC40 mk2, for some unforeseen thing I didn't expect! :?

“live 9 will be at bpm 2011 FACT”. Oh, that inspires me with a lot of confidence that there will be great improvement in the midi side, and that Live is not just becoming another bloody DJ tool.
