Professional users are no beta testers!

Post by nosuch » Sun Mar 09, 2003 11:38 am

I was really happy when live 2.0 showed up and went for the upgrade within hours.
But working with it is somehow painful (I really hoped I could USE the new features) - so ableton puts out a new version every week.
Maybe you should learn fom propellerheads: They ASK their customers if they want to do beta testing.

Make no mistake: I really dig live and the ways it opened - the interface and convenience is still exemplary.
Let it be like good wine . become better in time.

Hello nosuch,
i agree completly. it was painfull for us too, but unfortunately we had to have the release of 2.0 at the end of 2002 because we need to pay our developpers. This is not meant as an excuse for releasing a buggy update, but there was no alternative this time. The fact that Alex is answering forum questions and is putting up the bugfix update on a saturday morning at 6:00 should tell you everything...

Regards, Robert /Ableton

I appreciate that!

Thanks Robert,

I did not doubt ableton being dedicated to their users.
Maybe you should just alter the process - offer more transparency to the user.
I work in a software company too and I know what a strange process bringing out anew version can be.

Right on and have a nice weekend.
