Re: :!: Own a Launchpad? Get LPC-Live !!! The missing link.
Anyone having problems with this on the latest update (the one with Live 8.2.2 support)? I've made a fresh install on a brand new computer, and it works immediately after Live has launched, but after a while, my Launchpad just freezes. No problems using the Launchpad in Automap mode with Traktor.
Re: :!: Own a Launchpad? Get LPC-Live !!! The missing link.
Hmm... Could it be an Automap problem? I had a similar issue with the Launchpad and my Nocturn with Traktor just now: both units froze, and Automap Pro stopped responding. All active parameters were still lit when I force quit Automap. I unplugged and replugged both units and launched Live without starting Automap (and thus losing use of my Nocurn), and now the Launchpad has been working just fine with LPC for a couple of hours.
My patience with Automap is wearing really thin. I wish Native Instruments would make a Nocturn killer with the same sturdy knobs they've got on the Traktor Kontrol X1, only endless...

LPC is brilliant!
I am using 2 Launchpads at the same time with suite 8.2.2 (I do not use Automap, I have uninstalled it and not a huge fan of other Novation products) running 2 MT players - it works like a charm. You can use both independently, e.g. one for drum racks the other for step sequencer or scale mode or chops. The best for me is the step sequencer, with 2 Launchpads, one on page 1, the other on page 2 you have a perfect monophonic step sequencer for 16th note on 1 bar (Length, Octave, Velocity are editable).
I spend hours trying to find a good workflow to use Maschine in Ableton, I spend months with it, brilliant for loops (10 seconds done) but when you need to arrange in a DAW things start to get much cumbersome. Either you drag and drop audio per sound if you want to process each elements of your drum loop (at least 8 drag and drop for a simple drum loop, it is like 5 minutes for a simple loop!) or you do some advanced routings with both Maschine and Live templates, or you export wav's and needs to be extremely organized with folders - in the ned you spend more time on the transition between 2 programs than making music. The sampler cannot compete with Live's Sampler. Doing a Mixdown is really old fashioned, no native sidechaining (except with a not so good Reaktor module, and if you own Reaktor, pricey for sidechaining!) and the list continues because, of course, it is not intended to be a DAW. I am not even speaking of the so-called "Tighter Maschine integration with TP2" which clearly does not work as good as syncing Traktor to Ableton. I do not like to break a workflow between 2 systems and Maschine is clearly not enough for more than fun loops and I agree good hands-on approach. Conclusion: I gave up...
LPC is my answer, yes it would be nice to have velocity on the pads, yes it is not a dream for pad drummers, but, in the end, my workflow for electronic music is twice as fast and fun! Launchpads are cute and cheap, light on your lap and in your bag and overall you have a perfect integration with Live!
Welcome back Ableton and Stray I cannot wait for a polyphonic step sequencer.

LPC is indeed fabulous, I also have maschine and find myself going back to using Live w LPC more often than using maschine with live.
Re: :!: Own a Launchpad? Get LPC-Live !!! The missing link.
I love LPC Live, but I find it a bit limiting for playingl live (with one launchpad), because it doesn't have a clap launch mode built into the LPC presets. Having to go back and forth between the launchpad pages and the LPC pages isn't especially efficient. Having said that, it's a fabulous production tool.

Just got this over the weekend and it's completely blown me away - My Launchpad was gathering dust and I was thinking about getting a Maschine until I came across this thread. Absolutely Amazing stuff

if it's covered by the warrantybartend7 wrote:but if your launchpad breaks ,,, novation will do nothing to help,, even though they gave me a year warranty card..
..then they'll help..
anyway ..LPC is amazing!

Even better if you can purchase from a supplier that gives you 4 years replacement guarantee on every product3dot... wrote:if it's covered by the warrantybartend7 wrote:but if your launchpad breaks ,,, novation will do nothing to help,, even though they gave me a year warranty card..
