Microkorg XL midi madness

Post by mid_knight » Thu Jun 16, 2011 11:33 pm

I have been having problems lately using my microkorg xl with ableton. For some reason ableton sends random midi messages to my microkorg. One thing that it does that is particularly annoying is that anytime i trigger a clip on my korg track, parameter 5 on my korg turns up to +64 and adds vibrato to my sound, which i then have to turn back down during each play through. The same thing will happen if i turn on a midi device like my novation zero sl after i turn on my microkorg, but all is fine if turn on my korg last. But even so triggering a clip in ableton will make my synth go wonkey. Also I have an apc40 template that i downloaded off the net, i throw some full songs on there and i improvise over the tracks with my microkorg to help train my ears and improvisation skills. But then i find that there are 2 keys in the default octave of my synth that trigger scene and clip slots in ableton. I don't understand why any of this is happening and it seems like i am the only one with this problem. I love my korg but it's starting to become a headache, why won't it just work? where are these midi messages being sent and received from? You help is truly appreciated. Oh the template is here http://marshall-law.co.nz/dj-template/ it has some really great concepts to it.

I don't have a full understanding of the MicroKorg's features, but if it is possible to change the MIDI Channel on it, that could be a really easy fix to your problems. (I'd go with anything above ch. 8 )
