Phisynth

Post by Phijel » Mon Jun 13, 2011 10:49 am

Hello all,

let me introduce the new toy I've been making in Max these last few months:

some sound demos here:

I'd like to share it in a way or another, but considering the security flaws in Max, not sure how yet (donationware, shareware,... ?) and it still needs some tweaking before being shared.

I'm currently in the process of adding a couple of steps sequencers and a midi learn feature to it, which will make it even more flexible

also, I'd like to know would if someone be interested in a M4L version ? I might be able to do that if enough interest...

cheers,

philippe

Hm. Might be best to see if you can sell individual modules rather than the whole kablooey.

The sound positioner part seems pretty neat.

As for monetization, you might as well forget about it.

Nobody ever donates for anything these days.

probably not as often as it should. I donated to Hanz Pertov $30bucks, and a long while back I donated to Darren Cowley maybe 20?? and some guy used to have some stuff posted with a "buy me a beer" button, so I bought him a few.

It does happen.

For something like this there is a ready market for people willing to pay for the effort put in, consider setting up a sugarsync account that you give the password to for subscribers, a buy now button is easy to create if you have a paypal account... Your only joy with piracy is to ensure you have the right creative commons license within the device, that said as with anything it won't stop the unscrupulous, i've already had my work torrented in the past which given the 1000's of hours i've put in is a bit of a kick in the teeth...

Be aware though there will always be a group of people who believe it should be free, it's best not to enter into any form of debate with them as i've found their beliefs are deep rooted enough that no amount of reasoned argument will change their minds...

Cheers

Thanks Saracen, I've just become so cynical over years of posting useful tools for others and never seeing much back.

thank you all for your input, your advices & your sarcasms

in fact, monetization isn't the main problem here, I didn't plan to make a living out of it  , I'm already soooo loaded anyway :?

Time is the problem

@kgmonarch : funny you said that, the ambisonic planner is the only thing I didn't make myself : http://www.icst.net/research/downloads/ ... or-maxmsp/ a GREAT ressource for ambisonic surround spatialization.
@ f.e. yes, encore un peu de patience, ...çà vient...
@ S4racen thanks for the sugarsync tip, I'l check that out. I looks like dropbox I'm currently using tho.

I'll keep you posted with my progress

I used to use Dropbox, but it's impossible to set permissions on your folders and no matter how many times you ask people not to drag files out of the folder inevitably your constantly undeleting deleted files, often when a new user logs in for the first time they're presented with an empty folder and that feeling of being scammed is not a nice one....

Sugarsync allows you to set permissions and importantly passwords.... And you can send invites from your mobile when your on the move as well....

Like dropbox each new signup earns you a bonus in space a rather generous 500mb for each new member it is currently, start with the free account or the smallest plan and you'll soon build up a fairly large on line storage facility, i now have all of my file backed up for both my music and business laptops...
