Importing Ableton Samples

Hey guys,

I purchased Ableton Live 8 boxed version and it comes with at least a gb of samples. Im having difficulty uploading them onto my Macbook Pro. I loaded the disk into the drive, and opened the disk drive in Finder, but Im not really sure whats next. Do I drag them into a folder right in Ableton, or do I need to upload them into a folder and then access them from within Ableton? Thanks!

i think all you need to do is install live. then when you launch it for the first time it will automaticly check your library status and ask you if it should install all the content.

I tried that by looking through all of the folders on the left hand side but had no success. It was over a GB of samples so I didnt think it would be very difficult to find (I thought that there really wasnt a lot of preloaded samples with Ableton so actually figured the library of samples would be swamped after installing the new ones..). Any other suggestions?

well, most of the sample content isn't meant to be individual audio files. if u go to your live instruments, and then sampler or drum rack or simpler or impulse, all these preset sounds are sample-based content. and there are presets for all the other instruments too of course (which are not sample based).
you can doublecheck if all that content is properly installed in preferences > library (there you see a list of "live packs"). also you can hit "repair library" there and it will reorganize itself.

For what it's worth, I'm on an old MacBook Pro the samples that came with live are located in OSX/Live/Samples/Waveforms. For example this is where live's trumpet samples for the Sampler are located as well as some acoustic cymbals, snares and that kind of stuff.

ok thanks guys ill definitely check these ideas out. i just feel like im not importing them properly or something, but ill try locating those files through ableton. thanks!
