Probably something like, assigning the 'loop length' to the Modulation Wheel in Sampler. Either that, or using a modulation envelope and assigning loop length to that, but then assigning the midi controller to 'Sustain', which would basically regulate the amount. Make sure you set the percentage amount when assigning these parameters.

My understanding of it is that he does it manually when mooving the slidders, then the synth takes control, I dont see automation there.
