MPK mini setup help / intro to MIDI
Hello!
I just grabbed an Akai MPK mini and I'm a little confused as to how to set it up.
From plugging it in, I can operate the keys and pads just fine.
The trouble is assigning the knobs and pad functions. I tried looking at the editor, but it it's gibberish to me.
I was wondering if anybody could shed a little light on my situation.
I've never used MIDI software before, and any and all help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

plug in the mpk and open live.....then open live's "PREFERENCES" then go to "MIDI SYNC".....where it says "MIDI PORTS" your mpk should be showing up with all of the in's and out's available for the device...under the section where it says "REMOTE" make sure the ones for the mpk are turned "ON"....you should be able to midi map from there.....if you don't know how to do that in the top right hand corner of your arrangement or session view screen is a box that says,"midi" click that.....all mappable functions will turn blue....click on the function and turn the knob or hit the pad you want to control that function.....you will be able to see when it is working.....click out of midi map and you will be set..
i hope this helps.....good luck.
also see the section titled "manual control surface set up" in LIVE'S manual....i believe its chapter 25.1.2

Now, how can I turn on multiple record arm signals in my session view?

oh i think i know that one too.....select all of the tracks you want to arm by shift selecting, then hit command(mac) or control(pc) and click on one of the arm buttons and it should arm all of the tracks that are selected..
also..in the record section of the preferences where it says "exclusive arm"...if you have that set to arm, when you put an instrument on the track it will automatically arm it.
