One of the most useful aspects of using an MPC was it's 16 levels of pitch/tune.
To achieve this in Live I'm using 4 Intrument Racks, each with 8 chains.
Each chain holds an Instrument Rack with a Sampler, and each chain has it's note range set to a 16 note span.
The 4 top level Instrument Racks are set to no MIDI input.
I have 4 MIDI tracks listening to a MIDI in port, each set for discreet ch 2-5, their outputs going to one of the 4 Instrument Racks respectively.
I have a padKontrol, which has 16 banks (16 banks x 16 pads=256 notes), programmed chromatically on ch 2 and 3
I've made 2 flips in MIDI TRANSlator
1) User2 message on the pK switches from chromatic on pad 01 to the root notes of 8 samplers (ch 2 and 3)
2)Knob 2 has 3 positions: Left=ch 2-3, Center=ch 4-5, Right=ch 1.
This effectively makes 2 banks/32 samples/512 notes total (access to all 4 Intrument Racks), and full chromatic on ch 1 for all other devices.
I've piped the output from TRANS to a second input in Live for remote control, mapping each (root) key to Show Device for each Sampler.
This of course allows me to hit any pad on the pK and the corresponding Sampler is displayed.
Additionally I've also got a BCR, with presets 1-16 set to control plenty of controls in each Sampler.
I've arranged the layout in a sort of mirror fashion, with each preset controlling 2 Samplers at a time, 4 columns of knobs on the left and 4 on the right.
The BCR is kept in sync with Live as TRANS sends the pertaining sysex message to change preset with each press on the pK.
This all works well, and - while I've just built it, the only problem is Samplers displayed when hitting buttons when I want to see into clips. I figure I can fix this by using the 16 buttons on the BCR to do the Sampler selection.
So the big problem I have is in the recording clips.
Presently all 4 MIDI tracks need to be armed to freely record from all the pK banks/pads - at least 2 to record 1 bank of root keys (16 sounds/2 channels).
This means I have to (quickly) record to multiple tracks when arranging on the fly.
I'm realizing Live's single channel merge Brick Wall limitation is foiling me.
Conceptually I would prefer to record on a single "buffer" master MIDI track (multi midi channels), then bounce on the fly down to individual MIDI tracks listing on discreet channels/key ranges from that master track.
I'm hoping someone can give me some suggestions to achieving a "simple" way to consolidate/record multi-channel clips, or some better angle to accomplish a similar MPC emulation.

Re: MPC Emulation w 16 Levels Pitch
I'm pleased to discover it's simply a matter of manually MIDI mapping multiple clip slots to my Launchpad. The feedback is a little quirky, but it works fine.
