External hardware synth automation in Ableton

I got this problem which I seem not to be able to solve. It's about automation of my external synths in Ableton in the arrangement view and I am not talking about clip envelope automation but lanes automation like with the vsts.

It would really help if you explained what you're trying to do and what the problem is.

ok, when I turn a knob on Evolver for example I want to see how the automation takes place as much in clip as on the lane in the arrangement view

Unfortunately, you can't record clip automation. I think that's probably one of the biggest requested features that has yet to be implemented.

What about lane automation, in the arrangement view. Can that be done from the synth knobs?

recording from external midi gear will put the cc data inside the clips along with the notes, not in the automation lanes. i'm sure there are some workarounds to get it working in automation lanes, but theyre probably not worth the effort. just use clips and put in a +1 on the wishlist.

Unfortunately, you can't record clip automation.

you're talking about recording automation into clips for Live's own devices in Session view. completely different issue.

For some reason, I cannot record automation from my synth's knobs...

check your synth's documentation. if the knobs don't send out CCs to the external midi port, you could always use another controller - hooked up to both the synth and to Live - to record the automation (and play it back out to the synth)
