Live doesn't "see" .asd-files on external harddrive
Live doesn't "see" .asd-files on external harddrive
Hey guys,
Have you ever experienced this issue? The .asd-files are located in the same folder as the .mp3's and have the same name - though Live doesn't seem to see them?

What is the Library Path set to in the Ableton preferences? If it is not set to the folder you speak of, Ableton will not 'look' for it anywhere else.

It shouldn't matter where the library path is for his issue. I would try running disk utility and repairing permissions on the drive. Make sure you have read/write permissions.
Also, what is not working for you to think it is not reading the files? Did you hit save in clip view after warping (just a guess)?

Thank you both for your replies.
I'll try the disc utility.
Well, I think it is not working, as it is not working. the .asd-files are right beside the .mp3-file, so it should read them. The .asd-files were created on another computer and then transferred to the external HDD.

What I mean by not working is this - did you use the Save button in Clip View after Warping them? Or are they just the initial analysis with the waveform overview?

Oh - yes, of course. That is the whole point - I've spend countless hours doing that as a novice Ableton 8-userinvol wrote:What I mean by not working is this - did you use the Save button in Clip View after Warping them? Or are they just the initial analysis with the waveform overview?
Re: Live doesn't "see" .asd-files on external harddrive
My guess is that it is some sort of permissions thing or drive formatting issue between mac/pc. Any luck on that angle?
Re: Live doesn't "see" .asd-files on external harddrive
Actually, I don't have write-priviliges when connecting the harddrive to a Mac, so it looks like you're right. I'll investigate further. Thanks!
Re: Live doesn't "see" .asd-files on external harddrive
I always recommend reformatting non-Mac drives with Disk Utility if you are going to be using OS X. If you are jumping back and forth between Mac and PC, think about having 2 partitions, one formatted for Win and `one for OS X.
Also, I am sure there are some WIndows users on this forum that have more tips on this issue than I.
