Korg Nanopad2 Doesnt show up in Ableton 8 (sorry if repost)
Greetings,
Im running windows XP SP3 with Suite 8 and have the Nanopad2 plugged into a hub (along with my perfectly working Akai MPD32)
Ive installed all the latest drivers but the Nanopad doesnt show up in Live at all. (sends no midi either)
Ive looked in my hardware device settings in windows and it shows up fine there, Ive tryed different ports in the hub and installed various different times but it still does not show up.
Im going to try remove it from the hub and see if it works, but it kind of needs to work through the hub as I have only 3 ports and 4 controllers and a mouse.
I would appreciate any helpful suggestions anyone can give me.
Sorry If this is a repost.
Thanks in advance.
Peace

I have the Nano Trio but have set the NanoPad aside as I also have the MPD32. I had ongoing issues with the nano devices locking up, not being detected, requiring restarts. I uninstalled the Nano drivers and ran them as standard windows MIDI devices and haven't had an issue since.
The downside to this though is that you can't reconfigure the MIDI using the Korg nano utility but that's no issue for me as I have a set MIDI template for each device and use BOME if I need to do remapping.
Try and run the nanoPad without the nano drivers. In Windows it will appear just as an "Audio Device" but should work.

Thanks for your insight Sir!
Im gonna try what you suggested, I only got this thing cause of the x/y pad and for flam and rolls... looks like it may not have been the best idea

Ive read that NANOPAD is what shows up in lives midi preferences and not usb device..
the MPD shows up as USB Device, is it possible that the nanopad and mpd are conflicting?
Off to try the nanopad without the hub..

dunno about the driver issues. i have an original nanopad and never had any problems with it using the korg driver, under xp or win7.
however, if you have it installed correctly, you are running windows (especially xp), windows seems to see it fine but ableton doesn't, you probably need to run this:
http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=sup ... ivers&f=84
doesn't matter if you have an m-audio card or not. windows can only handle so many midi devices installed, and if you (for instance) plug your MPD into one USB slot, then into a different one, you can get duplicate entries and run over. xp is very easy to run over the limit. this tool gets rid of duplicate entries. unplug all your devices, then plug them back in, and always plug them into the same USB port if possible.

Thanks alot for you help, Ill try this out tmrw! Looks very useful for the duplication issue!!
Regarding my nanopad loading up fine in ableton when I removed my MPD yet acting incorectly by the pads not triggering midi messages and the x/y pad triggering midi but not evenly (it wobbles around barely controlable)
I got my friend to try it on his live 8 setup and it produced the same issues.
I wonder if either it is a Live 8 issue or if its just a broken nanopad.
I will contact Korg in the morrow. Am jst awaiting tests from a friend with live 6.
Appreciate the help here, any more suggestions are much welcome, thanks!
Peace
