Index Failed: Database Disk image is Malformed

I am new to Ableton Live. I Just got Live 6.0.1 yesterday. I have a Sony Vaio computer Intel(R), Pentium(R)4 Cpu 3.00Ghz and 1.99GB of RAM. My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition version 2002 SP2. My audio hardware is M-Audio Firewire Solo with driver 5.10.0.5036.
I am constantly getting a window that states: Index Failed: Database Disk image is Malformed, when I try to arm an audio track for recording. The audio track does not arm for recording.

Please Help

Hello,

First, update your version of Live to 6.0.7, here:
http://www.ableton.com/latest_versions

Then, do you have administrative rights on your computer? Look into the Preferences, File/Folder tab, where is your Library located, and also where is the temporary folder for audio files.

I updated to 6.0.7 on April 13 and this still occured. So, I had sent an e-mail and received an e-mail back within 20mins. The solution solve my porblem perfectly this same day.

Here is what was sent for future members. Just in case.

"-make sure Live is NOT running
-trash the 'cache' folder which can be found here:

c:/documents and settings/[username]/application data/ableton/cache

Note that on some Windows systems the application data folder is hidden
by default. Here is what you have to do to make it visible:

1. Launch Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer!).
2. Select 'Tools -> Folder Options -> View'.
3. Check 'Show hidden files and folders'.

i also have had a similar problem.

Live keeps crashing ungracefully,

I can't reboot my computer, have to switch it off.

After a couple of goes of this my vista install becomes corrupted and I have to re-install.

One of the rror messages has been unable to create cache directory (or something similar)

I'm using home premium vista with m-audio firewire 4-10

i'm now on my third fresh vista install. Vista sucks

I started to have this in os x after upgrading to 6.0.10

re-install didn't solve it.

Hey, i have the same problem ocurring on my mac, i don´t have a folder called application data, as 1. i have a mac, and 2. my language is set to german, every time, ableton tries to install the instruments and all the rest, it cancels the installation saying : database disk image is malformed. I can only use the drum rack section of the library, so please help, thanks

I get this too. I'm using Live 8.2.2 - I just swapped the drives that all my data was on. (I moved it to a 2nd internal in my macBook pro).

I'm going to try:
- finding and deleting any Ableton index files I might find.
- completely reinstalling
