Hello,
I often play MIDI with the computer keyboard with my laptop computer.
When I want to change preset from a VST, I need to open the VST, used the DOWN / UP arrows in order to change the preset, close the VST window (in the VST window, the key from computer keyboard don't act as a MIDI keyboard), and play...
Each time I want to test a preset, i have to open / close the VST interface...
ANy shorter solution ???
Thanks a lot.

Re: Playing MIDI With the Computer Keyboard.... preset change
Hi mate,
Slightly different way of selecting presets which you might be able to get to work for you...
In the 'Notes' box of a MIDI Clip in the Clip view there is a set of choosers - 'Bank', 'Sub Bank', and 'Program' - you can use these to select presets on your synth. Only downside is you can't see the name of the preset, you also need to have the Clip launched (and looped) so that on the next cycle of the loop it will switch to the new patch for you. I tend to use it more in a live situation, to essentially automate the changes of sounds on a synth for different songs in the set.
The other thing you can do is program in a simple MIDI Clip which will play in the background as you audition different presets on the synth's interface.
Hope this helps,
Tom.

Re: Playing MIDI With the Computer Keyboard.... preset change
Waw!!! Thanks so much www.midischool.com !
It's been so long that I loose so much time clicking on my VST, then changing preset, then clicking on Ableton window in order to have the computer keyboard working again as MIDI keyboard, etc. Then clicking on VST again in order to change preset, etc.
Your method is simple, and works great!
Now I can play MIDI notes with the computer keyboard, and scroll the presets with the arrows at the same time!
Thanks so much!
Moreover, I can keep the VST window open, and so I see the preset names
