how to get sound at ableton sampler?

probably a question a to chuckle about

well, i put a sample into sampler and now i just want to listen exactly to that sample. i thought about the shift-key: doesn't work- it plays all the audios and midis. I thought about going above the file and getting this sound-icon and click and it plays: doesn't work- cause it doesn't pop up.

so how do i get to listen to that sample in sampler. In the tutorial they don't tell. They probably thing this gets every newbie anyway. but i don't is there some kind of apple-command combination?

since i am already asking: here is another question:
when i put at the root key in sampler c3 what does this make? does it transform all the sound in the sample into the c-major key? that it just plays c, d, e, f, g, a, b? if not, how do i get to that point?

alrighty. i just go for the keyboard-configuration. i got that a-s-d-e-f-g-h and so on, addressed to c-d-e-f-g-a-b right, when i put the key c?

but... when i have a sample of my own. a vocal sample. i sing out of key and want to put it in key. Is there a possibility without working like note for note on it. a key transfer?

sorry for the confusing questions, but i work on that problem right now
