I'm about the same height and shoe size, but thankfully a bit thinner.

The hardware feels like it could pretty much withstand anything. It's got a carbon fiber frame or some such shit. The spec is on the website. The pads themselves are some sort of super dense rubber. The sensors below them? No idea.

It would be somewhat difficult to work with the SoftStep using Doc Martens, lol. Just because of the girth.

Not that you couldn't do it, but...again...it just requires more precision than a pair of Chuck Taylors.

This really looks like the foot controller I've been waiting for. Now if the pads were spaced a little further apart...
I'm wondering if it could be hacked to a bigger overall size. But probably the sensors are all soldered to one circuit board, right? Has anybody looked inside the thing yet?

On the softstep with ableton live video it was explained to have programmable banks. does anyone know how many banks are programmable? Also, are there any presets that work with ableoton. On the same video, it seemed to control the session view pretty easily.

so I received a softstep today. software is a bit clumsy, but I will get my head around it, pretty sure. up until now I made a little looping template for my guitar and it works fine so far. now want to incorporate it into my existing big live-set. up until now I haven't managed to program a new scene that will use my already exisiting midi-mappings. I use midi-CCs, usually from the nanokontrol, for lots of stuff: scene launch, navigation, blue-hand, device-selection ... I will post my findings later!

I am wondering about the possibilities of controlling guitar rig with it. Can it auto map to a racks eight knobs? That would be sick indeed for string players. Then maybe switch to another bank for controlling the looper.
