Can Live trigger patterns in a drum machine?

I have two Alesis drum machines, SR16 and SR18. Can Live trigger (through midi) the sounds and patterns I've created in them? I want the patterns for the intro, verse, chorus, etc in the drum machines to sync with the clips I've created in Live. So if I use a foot controller (when I play out) to trigger specific clips, the drums patterns will play along with them. I hope this makes sense, I'm still a beginner with Live. Thanks for your help.
