RS7K as Controller / Multichannel control mapping, How?

I'm new to Ableton but not to programming or setting up reasonably complex environments. I have an RS7000 and I want to use it to create
loops in the following way: Each channel/track on the RS7k corresponds to a channel in Ableton. I select a midi device and a channel, and the notes played by the sequencer, and the control messages, map to that channel. I don't care about audio from the RS7K, I just want to capture its multichannel midi output including controllers. So that part's of course, easy. Live just records my notes, and my midi controllers as desired.

Here's the problem:

When I select a track on the RS7K all of the knobs send cc messages on the track's midi channel. I want to be able to setup instruments so that the the sent CC is mapped to a particular control on the instrument and then save that instrument. Then, when I load the instrument onto a track, the CC numbers stay mapped as before, but the channel is purely a function of the track channel. If I use midi map mode, the assignments appear to become part of the project, not the instrument so I can't save the instrument expecting the mappings to work on a different channel.

So the RS7K sends out the same controller on different midi channels and I want to be able to drag an instance of some instrument (a rack, a rack containg a mfl patch+some instrument), onto a track and the CC messages will already be setup for that instrument.

I don't need this to work for any instrument. I'm willing to setup, for example, an instance of analog in a rack saved as RS7K_analog_rack.

What I don't want to do is to have to setup these mappings for every project or rely on some fixed set of instruments on specific channels or tracks.

So the question is, what's the "best practices" way of doing this? I have max for live if that's necessary.
