Tannoy or KRK

I plan to buy a pair of Tannoy Reveal 501A Monitors or KRK Rokit 5 G2 this weekend and was looking for some opinions. I've demoed the krk's, but can get a killer deal on the tannoy's also, which I don't have the option to try first.

Monitors --> Always try before you buy. It is really down to your own hearing and preferences.

Get Samson Rubicon 5A's or 6A's.

I had the KRK's; bass a tad flabby.

Ribbon tweeters on the Rube's are great.

Avoid the KRK's. Anyone who says the bass isn't over the tap and flabby, clearly hasn't listened to them back to back with other monitors.

Tannoy are nice. I had a pair of 6d's for 5 years before they started playing up. Hence why I had to look for a new set of monitors. The newer Tannoy's are actually not quite as good as these. So I said no.

In the end. Yamaha HSM80's were my choice. Can't speak highly enough of them. They are seriously nice monitors...

I love the KRK RP8's however the Tannoys kick @zz. Take a CD into Guitar center and listen to them both. You need to decide what is right for you

i use tannoy precision 8" and like them. probably wouldn't be my first choice, but i get them for less than 1/2 of dealer cost, so it was a good deal. the dual concentric drivers are great. the high end does seem a little bright, but that could be due to me switching to the precisions from old school tannoy pbm6.5, which have a super-soft (almost dull) top end. tannoy is a great company with great products, a lot of history, and a great engineering department.

i've liked KRK's the last few times i've heard them, but don't have enough experience to offer a useful opinion.
