Hi,
I recorded a midi clip in the arrangement view. But when I play it, the first quarter note in the bar is silent. However, the 2nd quarter beat notes sound. When I looked at the clip, I do see clearly the midi notes and velocity markings. Somehow it doesn't play the midi note from the beginning of the bar. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone give me a suggestion?

is the beginning of the midi note actually at the end of a looping clip? i have this problem sometimes, but i'm new too... try dragging the beginning of your midi note to make sure it starts in the middle of the clip, then delete the tiny blip at the end of the clip?

If the very first note/s silent in a clip/arrangement when you have recorded it, try and grab the recorded note, drag it right 1 click then drag it back to the start. If it recorded the note just at the end of the loop the start of the note is outside the loop envelope (or something).
In arrangement view try use the punch in\out marks. Makes things easy, set the playback 4 bars or a whole pattern before the punch in and start playing. When you get to the section that you want to record, it happens automatically and you are already in the groove and on-time rather than waiting for the play bar to loop.

Hi skamunista and jestermgee-Thanks for your comments. Your suggestions worked!! I moved the midi notes within the clip and moved back to the beginning. I could finally hear the beginning midi notes.
jestermgee-actually i initially recorded the midi clip using punch in/out marks. But somehow it just didn't play the first notes. Any parameters you recommend to set before recording midi clips in the arrangement view? It is weird that I have to move the midi notes back and forth to get it to work. Is this a known bug in ableton?

It's something I have encountered and I think it is a bug. I don't have similar issues in Cubase.
Do you have record quantizing active when playing? This should snap the note to the first bar but even so, I have also experienced the issue and just move the notes to get it going.
