OK, so I just downloaded Wave Editor so I can cut my samples quicker to use them in Live. Is there honestly a point to this? I've noticed that it takes the same amount of time as cutting it in Live, so why do so many people swear by it?

Kind of depends on what features and options are available in a 3rd party wav editor I'd say..
As well it likely depends on what you're trying to accomplish - some things simply can't be done in Live.
