problem installing launchpad

Hi guys, ive just bought a launchpad for live 8. ive installed the drivers from the disc as well as the launchpad edition of live 8, even though i have a full license. I then opened live and went into preferences to set it up but, when i opened preferences it would not allow me assign any inputs or outputs to the launchpad. I only get the option to select the launchpad for control surface. But for midi ports i only get:

output microsoft gs wavetable synth

is there something im missing?

I'm not sure this is the problem, but check that the Launchpad is getting enough power over USB. Give it its own USB port on the computer (no hubs) if you can.

Also, make sure you plug the Launchpad in before you start Live. On Windows Live won't recognize MIDI controllers plugged in after it's started.

cheers, got it sorted now. it wasn't picking it up as i had live open before pluggin in. the novation video said load it up then plug in. Cheers for helping out

Yay! Glad I could help. Yeah, the Novation video might've been using a Mac, as you can plug controllers in anytime on that platform.
