Agree.
And no reason why we can not add as many as we need!

Has anyone checked to see if the chaining of instruments/effects and the capability to save it as a file works for VST as well?

for mac users, I noticed in the midi clip window, you can press ctrl+mouse click, and you have a menu of things to do like quantize individual or a group of notes, mute a note or notes, loop a highlighted selection....bla bla bla....very cool!
Dual 2.5gig G5 with 2.5g/ram, DP 4.6, Live 6, Kontakt, Battery, Guitar Rig, EWQLSO Gold, Ivory, Pluggo, Waves, Tritone Digital, PSP, tons of free plug-ins, DFHS, BFD, Event ASP8's, Trigger Finger.....and a bunch of other shite.

the new handling of midi controlers is amazing:
for each midi controler or keyboard, you can choose in the prefs to use it as a keyboard and/or controler and/or get it synched.
meaning you can have as many controlers and synched devices as you want!

(still no multiple parameters assigment though)

The output levels turn red to indicate clipping. Nice feature.

Sure. Joost, turn on the midi assignment in v4. Assign a volume fader to midi. Notice how it says "absolute" or whatever at the bottom of the screen? In v5, there will be two numbers next to this - a min. and max. value.

On a volume fader it will say "-inf. dB" and "+6 dB". You can then set the max. value to 0 dB if you want to avoid clipping, for instance. Or maybe you want to avoid the ultra-low frequencies in the filter? If you assign midi to the freq. the min. and max. values will display the Hz value, and let you change the minimum to 80 Hz, if you want.

No more! Please, I can't stand it, I'm about to weep for joy and sorrow that I can't get it yet!

The question is not whether or not you are influenced, but rather what it is that influences you.

You can preview midi clips in the browser - very useful!

However it seems limited to only playing a sine sound, I'd much prefer to assign the midi clip preview to a multichannel softsynth eg. Roland VSC or even the standard Windows wavetable SW synth that is on everyone's PC (not sure about macs)

Still, even just a sine sound midi preview is a great addition.

I love the remote control.

If you assign midi controllers to clip properties (volume, pitch, loop start etc), the controllers are assigned to the currently selected clip. So you do not have to reassign them for each clip seperatly. Once another clip is selected, you can control the clip with the same controllers.
Jamming is so much fun using controllers.
Just bought a second trigger finger :-)...

The only thing I am missing, is to be able to assign controllers to menu commands, like undo and consolidate.

Another great thing is to have the input available in the arrangement view. Sometimes the simple things make you happy.

So many nice features still to be discovered.

Nice work,

Tom

yeah, workaround time: If you have a softsynth ready to go, just put it on a track, drag the midi file onto the track, put it in a slot, and drag it back into the browser to save it. That should make the softsynth load up when you're going to preview.
