You don't understand the modern world. It's not oh look he's putting trash in the bin, we should too. It's oh look some looser picking up trash so we can just dump it. More likely they don't think anything at all, no one notices, no one gives a damn.shadx312 wrote:True, it's been a long time since dignity, honor, nobility and common sense weren't considered high standards.
Yes, there is a lot of love and positivity going on around the world. It'd be nice to see that in the media more often.
When I go out to the alley to smoke, I'll throw away trash lying around like newspapers, bottles and cans that the down'n'out leave on the ground. Considering that the trash bin is five feet away, it isn't a hassle.
The thing is, out of all of us that are out there in the course of a work day, only one person bothers to do it? Hoping for a chain reaction to start.
Maybe it would help if we extended a bit of that respect to the working class "chavs". It's pretty fucked up the way the middle classes in this country snear at kids who grew up on estates. Admittedly I've joined in on laughing at some of the fashion statements in the past, but haven't we just substituted racial stereotypes for economical? Maybe the word "chav" will one day be seen as offensive as "paki".Khazul wrote: Sure good things have happened - rights for women's, blacks, and in theory all races etc. Laws to protect this group, laws to protect that group. Cool modern tech etc.
But somehow in the end, as someone said, honour, respect, dignity etc - that's all gone to shit and liberal modern laws that try to protect everyone end up just protecting the anti-social types who screw up the world for the rest of us - cos we ain't allowed to shoot them, beat them or whatever is reasonably justified. Not even allowed to put barbed wire on a damned fence in case it might hurt some damn chav who wants to get in your house at 5:30 in the morning - that's so fucked up.

Not to mention the state of things before Thomas Crapper's fine invention.LoopStationZebra wrote:Prior to the invention of the vacuum cleaner and Windex everything was so dirty. Yuck.
A working class person is not a chav - at all - a chav is that little asshole with no respect for anything or anyone who needs shooting.andydes wrote:Maybe it would help if we extended a bit of that respect to the working class "chavs".
