Running a track from Logic 9 into Live 8?

Post by xXxEVILxXx » Mon Aug 01, 2011 11:33 pm

So I'm trying to get into this remix project, and the original track was made in Logic, and I would prefer to put everything together in Live, although I'm not sure [or maybe I'm just not looking in the right place, it's been a while since I used Logic] how to rewire Logic into Live. I've tried doing some searches and found people trying similar things, but for far more complex approaches. All I need to do it be able to run one track at at time, into Ableton, to either record and/or rewrite parts of the original instrument into Live, along with what ever else I'm throwing together in Live.

I tried to use the info here:

http://www.ableton.com/pages/rewire/logic_pro

but I wasn't sure how to get to the rewire menu, as it's shown there in the project I'm in.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Would really appreciate it!

:D

You can rewire Live's output to Logic, but not vice-versa. Logic will only work as a rewire master.

I'm a former Logic Studio 9 owner, so I don't have it in front of me to confirm how Live->Logic is handled currently, but the screenshot Ableton has in those instructions is an older version of Logic.

It is frustrating that Logic isn't set up to play nicely with rewire in both directions. I used to use Soundflower to route the audio into Live and then record the audio from Logic's instruments, which is a method that might get you where you'd like to be. Good luck!
